It's been a few days since I've had a chance to sit down and write! This week has been incredibly busy!
Today's a big day for our girl. Katie's taking the SAT for the first time. She didn't seem to be too stressed this morning, which is probably a good thing. She left home at 7:00 this morning and it's almost 1:00 now and she's still not home! Whew...a long day, but a good day for a test since it's cold and rainy out.

Luckily she was able to go with her good friend Melissa. You may remember in earlier posts me mentioning Candy, my best friend. Melissa is her daughter. I've known Candy my entire life, and now our girls have the privilege of going to school together. Their family is like family to us...we're so blessed to have them in our lives.
This morning we got up early (5:45 a.m.) to have a nice relaxing morning with a good breakfast. We packed the much needed snacks for timed breaks and made sure she had everything else she needed.
We decided that this time would be a trial run and not send scores to schools, still not sure where she wants to send them! Also, she wants to take it a second time to compare her scores.
The requirements now for college are unbelievable...much more competitive than when I went to college. No doubt these kids really feel the pressure. They need our prayers daily.

It seems just like just yesterday when Katie and Melissa (in the middle) were headed off to kindergarten, then before we knew it, celebrating their 5th grade graduation and now they're taking the SAT and looking at colleges! Time goes by so fast!
Embrace everyday...every moment!

Ok, maybe it is the rainy day, but this post made me choke up. Here I am preparing to send my daughter to kindergarten in 2010! I know the years will fly.
God bless your daughter as she enters this new season in her life.
Love!
Beth
Time DOES go by so fast! I can hardly believe that my 3 children are almost 24, 26 and 28 years old! AND, I am a grandmother! How did that happen?!?!
I loved the sweet pictures of Katie and Melissa. How special to have had a dear friend for all of those years! I can only imagine all of the special times that they have shared together.
I pray for both of these girls as they enter another special time in their lives.
Have a great weekend, my friend,
Emilie
Beautiful post! Time does go by FAST and we really should slow down and embrace it while we can! I hope that your girl did great today on the SAT.
Take care!
It is amazing how time flies!! I look now at my granddaughter who just turned 14 in February!!

How nice that you and your friend have daughters the same age. I always prayed my kids would have at least one good friend who shared the same values as they did. He supplied that for both.
It just seems like a few years ago that my kids were in high school & they are 26 & 28! You are right...time flies and we most definitely need to embrace every moment.
They are both beautiful girls. I loved seeing the pictures.
Love,
Valerie
My son took the SAT for the second time today. He is a Junior. He took it and the ACT for the first time last Fall. I have had plenty of people ask why he is already taking it. I don't think they realize that college admission is so competitive. My daughter is at Baylor U and she took the SAT and ACT her Junior year also. She applied to Baylor in October of her Senior year and we still felt like that was almost too late. I hope your daughter did well. Yes, it has been a long day today. Next for our son is his 2nd ACT on April 4th.
Both of our boys took the SATs three times. Then they just used the best of the three scores. We scheduled three in a row, and it was amazing how much they improved their scores each time. Taking the tests close together really made a difference. Here's hoping your daughter gets great scores on her SATs!
Our oldest boy (21 yrs.) is in his third year of college, our youngest (18 yrs.)has just been accepted at a college. He's been busy completing scholarship applications, writing essays, etc. We will have two boys in college at the same time. They really do grow up sooo quickly. Kinda brings tears to MY eyes, too!
Blessings...

Wow! What a big day! I hope she feels good about it and I hope she did well. They do grow up way too fast my friend! Where does the time go?!?!
Awwww....what sweet pictures! I hope everything went well today!
Thank you for a touching reminder how fast time goes and to really really embrace it! In the mail today, I got my copy of Hearts at Home. They printed a story I wrote about when my daughter was in kindergarten. I couldn't help but read it again and you know, each moment is soooo precious! I wish I could trade places with you!
With one in college and one on his way this fall, I completely understand where you're headed! Talk to me in a year. We're in the midst of making our senior's college decision, based on financial packages, etc. So much to think about, but I'm relieved that I've gone through this once before.
No one prepares you for this as a mother. To date, letting Nick go to college was the most painful kick in the gutt I've known as a woman. I've written a couple of posts about it, so when you get there, let me know.
Thanks for checking in with me today.
