Prom Dresses!

Boy have things changed since I was a junior in high school! When mama took me shopping for a prom dress, there weren't nearly the choices there are now. I do remember that my junior year, I wanted the most frilly dress I could find. Looking back, I haven't a clue why! Normally I'm a very simple person. Last week Katie and I went shopping for her prom dress.


My prom dress looked similar to this with all the layers, except it was baby blue and had way too many layers of lace! Can you imagine walking around all night dressed like Scarlett O'Hara! What was I thinking?



If you've been in any department store lately, you've probably seen layers of prom dresses in all colors and styles! You see some frills and lace, but not a lot! There are a lot more florals now, very feminine and soft, which I think are quite pretty. In fact, Katie's first choice was a floral, that looked a lot like this. We put one on hold at Belk, but I encouraged her to look around a bit! She definitely is one that has her own sense of flare and style and would never go for frills! I love it...wish I had been more that way!


After looking around a bit more, we found one at Dillard's that looked very similar to this, except instead of it being a solid, it is black and cream in a swirl design! It has a very elegant look to it. Hanging on the rack, I wasn't so sure, but when she put in on, I knew that was the right dress for her and she did too.

Her school has very strict rules about the dress code for the prom, so we had to make sure that it wasn't too low in the back and didn't plunge in the front.

I'm so glad for the rules and standards! Some of the dresses can be a little on the skimpy side! The prom is the middle of April, so I'll have pictures for you then!
