My prom dress looked similar to this with all the layers, except it was baby blue and had way too many layers of lace! Can you imagine walking around all night dressed like Scarlett O'Hara! What was I thinking?

If you've been in any department store lately, you've probably seen layers of prom dresses in all colors and styles! You see some frills and lace, but not a lot! There are a lot more florals now, very feminine and soft, which I think are quite pretty. In fact, Katie's first choice was a floral, that looked a lot like this. We put one on hold at Belk, but I encouraged her to look around a bit! She definitely is one that has her own sense of flare and style and would never go for frills! I love it...wish I had been more that way!

After looking around a bit more, we found one at Dillard's that looked very similar to this, except instead of it being a solid, it is black and cream in a swirl design! It has a very elegant look to it. Hanging on the rack, I wasn't so sure, but when she put in on, I knew that was the right dress for her and she did too.
Her school has very strict rules about the dress code for the prom, so we had to make sure that it wasn't too low in the back and didn't plunge in the front.
I'm so glad for the rules and standards! Some of the dresses can be a little on the skimpy side! The prom is the middle of April, so I'll have pictures for you then!

Enjoyed sharing your 'promdress search'...I remember those days!
Bless you!

Our high school does not have any dress code for the prom. I wish they did! Each time our boys have been to the prom I've winced at some of the attire...or lack, thereof.
Please take lots of pictures of your daughter on prom night and share them with us! I know she'll be absolutely beautiful. :o)
Blessings...
We will be venturing out next weekend to find Morgan's dress too! I am not looking forward to it to be quite honest.
I am sure your daughter will look amazingly beautiful. Can't wait to see pictures.
Enjoy your evening!
Your daughter will look absolutely beautiful! What a special time the two of you must have had finding just the perfect dress! :o)

You brought back precious memories to me from when my daughter and I picked out some gowns for her. She didn't have proms but they had dinners to attend. But got to dress up anyways:)
I see you went to Belk's ! My favorite store! Are you from the south?
Oh how fun! I can't wait to see the pictures!
Must be prom week in blogland. Check out Wanda's daughter's dress @ http://queenieslittlekingdom.com/?p=1281
It's darling, and so is your daughter's. I would personally love to see a fashion show with it on her! You see, I never went to a prom, much less a dance in my life. I missed out on all the frills and fun; thus, I just love seeing all the fancy stuff, especially when it's tasteful.
What fun! Can't wait until Miss Priss (my Amelia) and I can enjoy shopping together.

Totally agree with you about how things have changed! I can't even believe how they wear formal dresses to homecoming because when I went it was a big deal to get a new sweater and skirt!
Make sure you check my post tomorrow for A Spring reading Thing that I am participating in. It is going to be so much fun and maybe you could join in:)
