About Face

I wanted to share a quote with you that really spoke to me at this point and time in our country's history. With the serious economic down turn, and our focus on things to make us happy, it struck a chord with me how relevant these words currently are.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road,
progress means doing an about-turn and walking back
to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back
the soonest is the most progressive.

- C.S. Lewis

After reading from Hebrews Chapter 3:12-13 today, and coming across this quote, the two just seemed to dance if you will.

See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart
that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily,
as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by
sin's deceitfulness.

For me this is a challenge, and I fall short everyday. Knowing that Jesus is my Savior, I need to keep my eyes turned on Him daily...not on the things of this world. This means placing my total trust in God to not become weak and fall into trap of the world. Trusting God and taking the road less traveled can certainly be uncomfortable, but know that God will lead you and guide you all the way.

Embrace the road less traveled!

Thanks so much for sharing what's on your heart. You speak the truth! Why is it so difficult for us to "let go and let God" take care of us? Time and time again I pick back up the things I've supposedly given to Him. It reminds me of the hymn, "Only Trust Him."

Come, every soul by sin oppressed;
There’s mercy with the Lord,
And He will surely give you rest
By trusting in His Word.

Only trust Him, only trust Him,
Only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you,
He will save you now.

Have a great week!

What a great post and so true! Thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hello. We have only lived in Clayton a little under two years but really like our neighborhood and the area (Cleveland). We moved from Wake Co. and hopefully one day we can get closer to my family in Asheboro. Hope you are enjoying the snow your way....we got the infamous dusting over here!

The "about face" of repentance. Oh, how many times has that been me! To think of the time I've spent pursuing the "wrong" road...well, it sometimes makes me sad. Thankfully, with age and wisdom and the spiritual maturity to go with, I spend less and less time following down frivilous paths. Jesus is my path, and I gladly follow him.

Thanks for visiting the blog. God bless you in your week.
