It was a great day. My 2nd graders gave me a surprise birthday party. My room moms had done a little sneaking around to find out that my favorite dessert is coconut cake. They brought not only the cake, but fresh, hot coffee from Starbucks. That hit the spot! My mama always bakes a homemade coconut cake for my birthday, but this year I won't be going back home until April. Her coconut cake out of this world!

Not only did I get a treat, but the class got Krispy Kreme donuts! We had so much fun and boy were they sugared up the rest of the day! Earlier in the morning, my assistant managed to get me out of the class for a while, to make a beautiful card and all the children signed it! At the party, they gave it to me, along with a very generous gift card to Target! I was blown away! The families in my class are so kind and more than supportive of what I do everyday. I have a great picture of my class, but I don't have permission from everyone to show it! Sorry.
After all the children had left for the day, and all was quiet, I was working in my room, trying to get ready for next week, when I got a call to come to the office. When I got up there, no one was there, except the nurse. She directed me to the counter

to the flowers that had just been delivered! Another Surprise! My husband sent me a beautiful vase of mixed flowers. It was filled with rubrum lilies, the type of flowers used in our wedding, along with pink roses and many other mixed flowers. Just beautiful. Later he told me that he was a little disappointed that they had come that late. He had asked that they be delivered around lunch time...oops!
Last night my Tony and Katie topped off my day by taking me out to dinner at Chili's. A new one has just opened less than 10 minutes from our house..a good choice, because everyone could get what they wanted! The food was really good.
Katie suggested the southwest egg rolls for an appetizer and they were incredible! I

had something new on the menu for my entree. Crispy, fried chicken tacos...delicious! After all that food, I had no room for dessert! The night couldn't have been more perfect...quiet and relaxing! A great way to end a beautiful day.
Thank you Tony, and Katie, my family back home, my sweet little 2nd graders and their families and my wonderful team at work for making my birthday, a day filled with blessings!
Sometimes as we grow older, we tend to not want to count the birthdays! I say celebrate everyday that God gives you with the ones you love!
Embrace the celebrations in your life and find new ways to celebrate each day!
