Saturday Book Share

Be assured, if you walk
with Him and look to
Him, and expect help from
Him, He will never fail you.
~George Mueller

There's a book that I'm eager to read that my husband has already read and highly recommended, Walking With God by John Eldredge. I've read his book Captivating twice, lead a study on it, and learned so much both times. Great book about the heart of a woman and how God passionately loves me.

I love Eldredge's real and fresh approach to one's relationship with the Lord. Walking With God is a book about options...trying to do it on our own or truly listening to God and learning how to hear His voice.

This is something I struggle with. Is it my voice, my desire, or what God truly wants me to do?

Right now I'm in in the middle of a book that I bought over Spring break. It's a fiction book by Christian author Lisa Samson titled Embrace Me. The title itself grabbed my attention, plus it takes place in North Carolina. I'm just on Chapter 5, but I must say it's captured me.

If you've read any of these and have feedback, please share! Have a great day.

Ginger

HI Ginger! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for your sweet comment! I don't think you look old enough to have a daughter going to the PROM!! Oh my word! She looked beautiful!!
I also haven't slowed down long enough to read lately, but I sure do love to when I get a chance. Sometimes I read like a mad woman... book after book! Then I go through busy times where I don't read so much. It will come around again! :)
Thanks again for stopping by! Come again! :)

I'll be anxious to hear how you like the book.

I know what you mean about hearing from God.
Several years ago I had a friend who was the sweetest Christian. She would talk often about how God told her this and that. I really envied the relationship she had with God. I was a Christian...had been for years and years. I read my Bible...went to church every time the doors were open, practically. There was something she had though that I wanted. After I began doing some of Beth Moore's Bible studies I realized she had that same thing. I heard Beth say "If you want a relationship and a burning desire for a love for God, ask Him for it." I began to read my Bible in a different way. I began to pray His Word. I began to have a relationship with Him like those two ladies have. I still have trouble every now and then knowing if it's from God or something I'm thinking up, but when I pray for His will, He lets me know.
Thank you for sharing about this book. I'll be anxious to hear more about it.

I'm not much help. I haven't read any of these. Love the titles though and would like to hear what you think about them once you've read them. Just the little that you mentioned about Embrace Me, sounds like something I definitely want/need to read. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ginger,
I have read Captivating once and plan to read it again. It blessed me so deeply and at just the right time. I had not heard of Embrace Me. Is that fiction? I love to read and seldom slow down enough to do so. With summer break right around the corner, I am getting my little list of books ready to go. Have you ever read The Shack? If so, what do you think of it?
I am sorry that you too have experienced loss. This is the first Sunday with out this person and his wife was visiting with family. It was so strange to not have him with us. I know he is rejoicing in heaven and that brings me so much comfort, it is the selfish side of me that wants him back.
I hope that you have a wonderful week!!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne

Hey Ginger!

I have read Captivating and loved it! I am going to have to read his next one and Embrace Me; I could read a little more fiction :)

That Captivating book was excellent; I, too, have read it through twice and led a study on it. I've heard how good his new one is, but have yet to read it.

Thanks for the tip on the Embrace Me book!

Blessings,
Melinda
