This day, according to scripture, also shows us how much of a servant Jesus truly was.

John 13:3-5
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
Jesus set the example for us all in how we should treat one another.
John 13:15-17
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."
How would you treat another knowing what Jesus knew? Knowing you were going to be betrayed and denied. He continued to show love and mercy. Would you do the same; praying for and serving the very ones that would bring harm to you? Truthfully speaking, I'm not so sure that I would. I know that I don't follow the example of Jesus the way I should. So often I allow bitterness, pride or busyness to creep in and keep me from doing what I know Jesus would have me do.
Today, Maundy Thursday, this Holy Thursday, give pause to follow the example of Jesus with a servant's heart. Take a moment to think about what Jesus must have been thinking, but also decide in your heart to live more like him each day.
Embrace a Servant's Heart,
Ginger
