It's been a week since I've had an opportunity to write. Words haven't been flowing as easily as I had hoped. Writer's block I guess. So goes life. Just like words, life doesn't always flow easily and often gets blocked by the "everyday"struggles.
Think about how many people you have passed this week that may have had smiles on their faces, but when you look deep into their eyes, you see sadness, insecurity, hopelessness, doubt, fear and the list could go on!
You have to wonder...where is their hope? Where is their joy? Where is their peace? Where is their trust?
For several years, I was that person you might pass. I was sad, lonely, full of doubt and fearful that my marriage was over and I was losing my daughter. From the outside looking in, things looked great. No one really knew or if they did, I never knew they knew.
I share this because as Christians, we need to speak life into others, give them a smile or a pat on the back. You never know how your kindness may be exactly what that hopeless person needs at that moment. I love the song "Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath. This song speaks volumes to me about how we often pass people that may be in pain and never really give them a second glance. Give them your eyes so they might see Jesus in you.
Embrace those that are hurting. They need you. Jesus is our hope, peace, joy and where we can place our trust. He is there for us in those times of need.
A very dear friend shared this Psalm with me recently. Although I had read it before, it was if I was reading it for the first time.
Psalm 13: 5-6 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation . I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me.
