This morning was one of those mornings that I wish I could capture, put in a bottle and keep forever! Clipboards in hand, I took my 2nd graders down the Branch Creek Nature Preserve for a nature walk at 7:45! We were looking for signs of fall using all of our senses. The children were in awe as we watched, listened to, smelled and felt the signs of fall. Pencils were quickly jotting things down like golden and brick red leaves, scurrying squirrels, and dangling spider webs. Watching their little 7 year old faces light up when hearing a babbling brook in the distance or the rustling of the trees from the breeze reminded me why I enjoying teaching.
It made me stop and think how precious life really is and how important it is to spend time the ones we love just stopping to smell the roses and watch the sun peek through the trees or notice the beauty of God's creations all around us.
