Facing Fears

This was an important day for the 2nd graders in my class...Famous Americans Biography Book Reports. The children were really cute as they held their cardboard cut out faces that looked like their famous Americans over theirs. Standing with confidence these famous Americans such as Daniel Boone, Helen Keller, Henry Ford, Ruby Bridges, Babe Ruth, Ella Fitzgerald, Ronald Reagan, and many more shared their great stories.

One in particular report stood out because it's one of my favorite famous Americans~Eleanor Roosevelt. Although she had a somewhat sad childhood, she persevered into a great woman of leadership and a First Lady.

The Eleanor Roosevelt quote shared today by the little girl in my class was very motivating and inspirational. It made me think back to several defining moments in my life when I really didn't want to face what I knew was coming or those times when difficult decisions had to be made and I didn't want to have to be the grown up! God often speaks to us through others and gives us the strength we never thought we had to do what seems to be the impossible.

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face...do the thing you think you cannot do."

~Eleanor Roosevelt

Embrace the fears in your life and God will see you through.
