Help Me to Recognize

Lately I've been thinking alot about the devastation in Haiti. The loss of life, loss of family, loss of security, loss of shelter, loss of friends and the loss of peace is beyond my ability to even comprehend.

Can you imagine waiting in line for food or wondering if there will even be enough to go around? Can you fathom the thought of not knowing if you'll have a cool drink of water? I can't really because I take all these things for granted so often during the day. Can you imagine needing medical attention and not being able to get it? Again, I can't.

Blessed beyond measure and so often I fail to recognize it.

What can I do? 1 John 3:18 Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.

Help me Lord to embrace those in need both near and far.

Oh, Ginger..what a reminder you shared! Those faces...it breaks my heart! You're right that we take so much for granted. We are continuing to pray for those in Haiti. I truly pray that God will bless them.

Love you!

It breaks my heart too.
We do take so much for granted. How blessed we are here in America.
I've been praying so hard for Haiti. The children especially make me sad. They are so adorable!

Hello, I am visiting via Valerie's blog. I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie this fall. I live in NC too! I enjoyed reading your past posts. So sorry about the loss of your precious Dad. We are having snow tonight. Maybe it is snowing where you live too. Love & blessings from NC!

Ginger I posted about this very thing a week ago on my blog. It struck me when I was filling the dog's water bowl. We take for granted that we can turn on a faucet and water appears, even for dogs. In Haiti there are long lines for the gift of precious water.

I'm not certain what the answer is for us. Obviously praying and praying and we've donated, yet I yearn to do more.
