Motivation for 2010

This year I've decided not to make too many resolutions, especially ones that I know I won't keep. For example cleaning my house everyday after work will not happen. Take baby steps I keep telling myself...don't be too hasty in making unrealistic goals. I'm such a wimp. Can you tell?

For example, I know that I am not going to exercise everyday...just not going to happen with my schedule. Far be it from me to get up any earlier than 5:00 a.m. to move any faster than I do. Or to come home at 4:30 or 5:00 in the afternoon and start moving again, when all I really want to do is collapse in my big, comfy chair. However, it dawned on me that I need to challenge myself and not be complacent with the old, but rather bring on the new!

Maybe a brisk walk a few times a week would actually give me that extra energy I actually need to get moving so early in the morning instead of that 3rd cup of java!!
Maybe eating more veggies during my 15-20 minute lunch or adding more fruit to my oatmeal for breakfast is a good idea!! Why not? What do I have to lose...except a few pounds and maybe feel a lot better in the process.

No doubt there will be challenges, but I'm willing to give this a whirl. Did I mention I also want to be more organized? For example, plan all my meals a week in advance...not there yet! I'll keep you posted.

When I was trying to decide what to write for today, I came across this quote by C.S. Lewis. I don't know about you, but it has certainly motivated me in more than one way. Be inspired!

If only we have the will to walk,
then God is pleased with our stumbles.
C.S. Lewis

Embrace your daily stumbles!

I always have my hopes that I'll exercise more and watch my diet and I usually do it at first and then slack off.
Last year one of my goals was to do the Scripture memorization that Beth Moore challenged us to do and I actually stuck with that goal. I memorized all 24 verses of Psalm 139. :)
My plan is to get up early enough each day to have my quiet time & time on the treadmill before going to work.
So far....so good.
Happy New Year Ginger!

I needed to read this post! It is comforting to know that I am not the only one taking baby steps into the new year. And I really like your quote!
It is funny how I needed just these words, and here they are. :o)
I wish I could share my bread with everyone! :o) I am encouraged by the early church, no one needed anything because they all brought their goods and their talents to the table (no pun intended). I wish bartering was a more popular means of doing things. :o) It can be so much fun!
I hope you have a good night.

I know what you mean...I stumble a lot too. We live just off 485 in South East Charlotte not far from Matthews. I would love to meet in Gaffney one day. That would be great. It's not far at all. My daughter has a friend that lives in your area! Shoot me an email with some days!
