Conversations With God

I've always prayed, not always like I should, but in the last couple of years, it has been more of a conversation with the Lord, not just one of those things that I'd check off on my "to do" list. When I would lay me down to sleep, that's exactly what would happen, I would fall asleep and I'd never talk with God. Or I would fall asleep in the middle of a prayer...wake up and forget what I'd been praying about. I decided something needed to change.

What is so beautiful about talking with God is that you can do it anywhere. "He can hear you now". No dropped calls. It doesn't have to be any specific place. There are many mornings on my way to work, I spend that time in prayer. It might be cooking dinner for you or taking a walk when you have that conversation with God.

Unlike many of our phone plans, you're not limited in the number of calls you make...the beauty of prayer. What a friend we have in Jesus.

I found this reflection in my NIV Women's Devotional Bible written by Mother Teresa and wanted to share it with you.

Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of
containing God's gift of himself.
Ask and seek, and your heart will grow big
enough to receive Him and to keep Him as your
own. Wherever God has put you, that is your vocation.
It is not what we do but how much love we put into it.

-Mother Teresa

This is a beautiful post Ginger. I am guilty of not spending quality alone time with the Lord lately. Ha, I say lately -- I should say in 3 1/2 years (since my daughter was born). Now I basically speak with Him all of the time, but rarely have those quiet, "be still and know that He is God" moments.

Thank you for your comment on my post. Chocolate is really wooing me for some reason. I have always loved it, but I wonder if the enemy is trying to use it as a trap.

Have a blessed evening!

You are so right! It is great to be able to speak to God anytime and any place. I also am challenged to have to quiet, uninterrupted moments with Him, but am so blessed with that time when it happens!

What a great post! I love the idea of having an ongoing conversation with God. I believe that's really the way it should be.

I hope you're enjoying your day off! I was sooo excited. I'm just like a kid when it comes to getting a surprise day off! :)
