Catching Up

It's hard to believe that it's December 16th. A lot has happened since the last time I posted. Where do I begin? Just after my last post, I caught a lovely case of pink eye. As my doctor put it, children share everything but their toys. How true!!

Of course I contracted this in both eyes just in time for our 25th wedding anniversary which was supposed to be celebrated in Charleston with my in laws who were celebrating their 50th. Let me make a long story short, we weren't able to go. My father-in-law was having serious back problems, in lots of pain, and unable to walk for any period of time and knew he would be miserable. Yesterday he had a 5 hour surgery in Raleigh, but came through beautifully. Keep him and my mother in law in your prayers as he recovers over the next few weeks.

Instead of Charleston, Tony, Katie and I ended up going down to Myrtle Beach for a quick get away...it just wouldn't have been the same to go to Charleston without the rest of the family. That trip will just have to wait till spring!

While in Myrtle Beach, we stayed at a really nice resort and did manage to get a little shopping done. Did I say a little? With Katie there's no such thing. I think we hit every store within a ten mile radius of where we were staying. I thought Tony was going to drop in his tracks.

The weather wasn't all that great, which was great for shopping, but not so hot for the beach, but honestly I didn't mind, it was just good to get away. We enjoyed some great restaurants. One of my favorites was Bovines at Murrell's Inlet about 30 minutes from Myrtle. The food was delicious. Everything is cooked over a wood fire.

Katie snapped this picture just after our waiter served us complimentary desserts for our anniversary. They were awesome and we were stuffed. Tony got carrot cake, which is what we had at our wedding reception. I had a chocolate peanut butter pie and Katie had a brownie topped with ice cream, whip cream and chocolate syrup. Amazing!! Hopefully we'll be able to do the real anniversary trip in 2010, but for now this was just right.

We enjoyed spending some much needed quality time together as a family. Lately it seems we've just not had as much of that as we've needed. Looking forward to more over Christmas!

I hope to be commenting on your posts again soon. I've had trouble leaving comments on several blogs...not sure why. My computer has been acting a little strange lately!

Embrace the season!

Hi Ginger.
What a wonderful time you all had. I am sorry that your Charleston trip has been postponed. I will keep your father in law in my prayers. You continue to be close to my heart and in my prayers, during this time of the year.
I was shocked when I read what you ordered for dessert. If it were Woody, myself, and our Katie ... we would have ordered the same thing! Carrot cake is Woody's favorite. :o)
Have a nice evening.
Sincerely ~ Trish

I'm so glad to see a post from you! I've missed you, my friend.

Myrtle Beach is a wonderful getaway trip. We go to Sunset Beach, NC in the summer. It's right at the NC/SC border, about 45 min. north of Myrtle. We love it there!

I hope your computer probs are straightened out now. You need to leave some comments over at my blog...I'm having a giveaway!!

Hugs,
Beth
