I've always heard it said that "Jesus is the Reason for the Season". I couldn't agree more. However last year I was listening to a really powerful sermon that touched me profoundly. The message said that I was the reason for the season. Wow! Think about it. Jesus was born for us...you and me. I knew that, but never heard it put quite that way.
The book of Luke is written to present Jesus as a Savior for the entire human race. No matter the color of your skin, the size of your bank account or house! Luke 2: 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Those words "to you"...for me, are personal. It was for you and for me that God brought his son to earth to live as one of us and to die for our sins. He paid the ultimate sacrifice for me.
Jesus is called "Immanuel" in Matthew chapter 1:23, which means, "God with us." Knowing that God is always with me is a comfort even when I don't think He's there...He is! During this season when it is so easy to lose sight of what we're really celebrating or forget what's really important and get completely stressed out, remember "Immanuel".
This season, celebrate the real reason for the season. The birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord. Not the hustle and bustle, not the latest greatest gadget or gifts. We have the greatest gift! Just recognize it and receive it. Remember that Jesus loves you, is with you and will never leave you or forsake you. He was born for you. Allow Christ to give you peace in this season.
Luke Chapter 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

It is so easy to always lose sight of why we do what we do......especially during Christmas. You are a great writer! Loved your thoughts!
